A common cause of recurrent styes/eyelid bumps is a condition known as blepharitis.

Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelid as a result of bacteria accumulation in the eyelashes and on the eyelid margins. Over time, infections can occur and is a common cause of meibomian gland dysfunction and therefore, Dry Eye Disease.

At Avant Eyes, we perform a microblepharoexfoliation in-office treatment to treat bacteria build up in addition to recommending at-home treatments. Symptoms of blepharitis include itchy, red and swollen eyelids, which in turn can cause blurred vision.
